Sayonara M9

This is the last picture I took with my second Leica m9 before deciding to let it go. Although the camera was capable of producing stunning results, it was the least reliable digital camera I have ever owned.
The Leica m9 and Summicron 35mm f2, known as “bokeh king”, were my biggest photo gear disappointments of 2011.
The camera failed me in some critical moments and had to be sent for different repairs 3 times last year.
In fact I had some/different problems with my first m9 and a Leica m8 I owned before too.
I guess I never learn…
From now on, I am going to stick to Leica M film cameras only.

As for the Summicron 35mm v4, I just didn’t think it was worth the premium price.
I found the Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f2 had as good  resolution as the Summicron and a very similar signature, yet the cost was 1/3 of the Leica lens. The 5mm difference in focal length was negligible for me.
